Seawolf Lands on Coast Guard Cutter
Hey Mates,
I served in Vietnam aboard the Coast Guard (CG) Cutter Chase WHEC 718 attached to Coast Guard Squadron 3, Operation Market time 1969-70. The Chase at that time was a new 378' State of the Art High Endurance Cutter and the first ships to be powered by Jet Turbines and have flight decks. Anyway, find the attached rare photo of one of your HAL-3 whirlybirds (tail # 326) right after she has landed on Chase's flight deck (see the attached Chase photo). The Chase being one the CGRON3 components of Market Time worked closely with the Seawolves as well as the Navy Swifts and PBR forces. It was not uncommon to have your assets aboard. Although I was just a Seaman back then I take great pride in having served with you all in Vietnam. I did send the actual photograph to one of you members some years ago so that you could include it in your historical archives showing a HAL-3 asset aboard a Coast Guard Cutter. Feel free to post this photo on your web site or do as you please with it. I just wanted to share a bit of rare history with you members. Enjoy!
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Woody (Christopher F. Wood),
